Pace Car Final Process
On its way to the Corvette Restorer is an article on the final phase that completed RPO Z78 in 1978 for the Limited Edition Pace Car. The link below provides forum members insights into the final process for completing the RPO Z78 paint scheme and decal application and describes the special accommodation for Pace Cars to prepare for shipping via the freight trucks to dealers and anxiously awaiting buyers. I think you'll find it interesting and especially Pace Car aficionados.

Hi h4c,
That's a very interesting article and the photos make it even more so!
I'm curious if any blackout was done in the wheel wells after the silver had been sprayed.
It's also interesting to note that the painter didn't have even a simple paper mask on. I wonder what happened to his nose and lungs?
Thanks for the link!
Regards,
Alan

No blackout after silver paint. I have yet to spot any silver overspray in wheel wells. The blackout would have been done in the Corvette plant at the end of paint operation as with other C3s. So any silver would have sprayed over the blackout.
