Default Hooker Headers / sidepipe question

I've done a search & couldn't find what I needed ...

Question : Installing a set of Hooker Super Comp headers on my 82 , I've been looking for info on where to weld a bung for the O2 sensor . I know on the passenger side , but where exactly ? . I'm wanting to have it done before I get them ceramic coated .

Thanks in advance ..

At first I didnt see the heading but read the post as if they were regular headers. Anyhoo. Your best bet is down at the bottom where the tubes all collect. just have it going inward and kinda parallel with the floor pan so its not hanging down. Hope this helps.

What scrappy said. I'll be doing this on my side pipes. For my situation, the bung will need to be welded at about a 20* angle below horizontal so the o2 sensor won't interfere with the frame. Not ideal but I have no other choice as the only place to mount the bung is on the header collector. I'm doing both sides but one side will remain plugged after tuning is complete.

I put mine on the drivers side, and at the 4 o'clock position. Worked out pretty well. No interference issues either.

I saw your PM briefly, but then it vanished! I'm on the NW side of Houston. But my 81 is completely apart, but I can still show you where I put the bung for the sensor. When I get home I can snap a pic of the pipe and post it up.

edit - I'll be at the track in Baytown Sunday. I can bring the pipe with me. I'll be in a white Sierra crew cab with a red 98 Firebird w/ trailer.

drivers side, 4 o'clock position. Not the best but frame clearance is the enemy here. You want to ensure its after the collectors.

Just curious, did you consider the doug's headers side pipes when you decided on the hooker header pipes? Is there a reason you picked one over the other? There is about a $120 price difference, the doug's being cheaper.
