after 2 hours of fiddling with the idle i decided to give it a shot, even tho it was idling around 900 in gear (1400 in park). i went to the local hangout for us "teens" and saw these kids gawking over a honda S2000. so i quietly walked over, checked out the car (had the basic intake/header and exhaust) overhearing his conversation of dusting mustangs and C5s, so i put down my good friend Gen. Grant. i said you wanna back that talk up with some action?. he agreed, i gave the 50 to a buddy, and we lined em up. light went green and my car never launched so hard in its life. its hard to believe swapping carbs would make such a difference. i had about half a car on him before the secondaries opened up and i could hear his intake whining over my exhaust so i knew he was still trying. when the 4bbls opened, my lead went from half a car to 3 car lengths and growing  and this was right in front of the hangout so about 75 people saw me whoop up on this thing. at the end of the 1/4 i had 6 cars on him. we got back to the hangout and the kid SWORE i was runnin juice.. i let him check everything after i got my cash. and all the babes were all over me after that. so  thats to a great choice in carbs, and one heck of a night :jester
I love hearing those stories! Seems like all those ricers have an excuse after getting their azzes kicked. Well did the victory help you with the babes later on that night? You know what I mean!!!
Are Demon carbs all too much better than Holley's? I know you can change a LOT more on a Demon than a Holley, but are the overall base models of the Demons better???
Are you using the stock spreadbore intake with a spacer, or did you change out the intake manifold to a squarebore? Either way, did you have any problems getting it all under your hood without rubbing?
My buddie just got rid of his Demon and put on a Holley Avenger and it runs Much better.....now congrats on whooping the Honda...Those s2000's are pretty fast if you know how to launch them properly 8k or so

Not wanting to take anything away from your great win but I saw close to stock S2000's run on the Drag strip and they are only running mid to upper 15's...... S2000 are way overrated....they are not all that strong - exept if heavyly modified.... They wouldn't even have a chance against a all stock 69'!!!
IMO, the Demon line of carbs are the best. People that pan them just don't know how to tune a motor in the first place.
Congrats on the drag win but to echo what Olivier said....an S2000? A man's man '69 Corvette racing a flaming, effeminate Miata knockoff? You should know better. :nono: Those are the kind of cars you just ignore because they're beneath you on the food chain & they know it. Giving them the time of day just makes them feel more important.
Nice show! I know a guy who just put $8K into an eclipse. Upgraded turbo, variable boost control, perf. exhaust, etc. He was able to get into the 14's.....
I was running mid 15's with an L48 that had headers, Performer RPM, and holley 600.
I think younger people will always try to modify what's current. But, I think the most bang for the buck lies in older RWD American V8's. My favorite is the C3, but there's plenty others worth making fast.
Can you immagine what the results whould be if you put $8K into a small block?!?!? Including the machine work, you could probably come up with a 7500 RPM redline and enough power to push just about anything into low 12's.
I seem to get challenged on the highway more than anywhere else. And though I almost never race on public roads, sometimes I'll give in. There was a modified Prelude last year that pulled up beside me while I was doing 50 in the right lane. We ran. I took it up to 100 and slowed back down to 60. I was braking and back down to around 80 by the time he caught up. I think the whole process of going form 50 to 100 to 60 took around 10 sec - maybe less.
The new cars are pretty cool IMO. It's been a long time since the auto industry has produced such a quantity of capable cars. And, as such, I think all the manufacturers should be applauded engineering their way through tough emissions and safety standards to produce some cars that are pretty exciting.
But, without getting into exotics, I have yet to see a ricer that has the top end acceleration of a properly set up Vette of any era graced with a V8. (Nitrous and obscene turbo applications excluded)
