ignition shield getting hot?

Default ignition shield getting hot?
I have a 1976 with the stock ignition shieldING. I noticed that the ignition shield was really hot. How hot should it get.

Being that the underhood of these cars get really hot Id say that its just metal getting hot. Heat transfer ,no worries

Define "really hot"? It's honest to say everything under the hood of a C3 will get warm with the engine running.

That shielding will attain about the same temps as the rest of the upper engine area is seeing....200*F+. It's designed to handle those temps, if your radiator/fan/seals system is pumping the right amount of air through the radiator.
