Default Suspension Upgrade

Has anyone updated the suspension on their C3 with a kit from VBP? I am considering the Performance Plus package. Any thoughts would be appreciated

UCRed,
I installed this kit over the winter on my BB Vert and I absolutely love it. The ride is completely diff. I have heard others compare it to the C4. If I buy another vette at some point it will get the same treatment. You will love it :yesnod:

Thanks for the responses. I am in the process of a frame off, so I figure now is the time to do it. Are there any pit-falls you encountered from VBP or the installation? Did you guys stay at stock height or use the system to lower the car. I definitely want to lower it. Did you use VBP brakes or others?

...that is exactly what I am looking for. My dads 86 is so fun to drive...I call it the big go-cart! I am planning on doing a kit as well. I am wondering if I will need to get a new steering box as well to get the "C4" feel??? Thoughts?

However first I need a running engine again. :D

Another thing to consider ,if you want to spend some more money, is the rack and pinion from Speed Direct. It is a bolt on replacement for the entire steering system from the steering shaft on. I did this at the same time I did the VB install.

Is that the system that was in Vette magazine a few issues back? I can't remember the manufacture. I liked the idea but was concerned about the universal joint linkage to get from the steering column to the new unit. If this is the one you have is there any safe guard built into them in case of failure that you will still have some type of steering?

I believe it was. I do not think there is any one else making such a system. I am not an engineer nor do I know enough about U-joints to comment. That would probably be a good question for speed direct. What I do know is that their system works great and is a wonderful upgrade.

I have the performance plus suspension package in my 78 corvette. Have not had it on the road yet though for I also have been doing a frame off restoration/modification. I had to replace some off the bolts for some of the ones they supplied stripped out. I had to use the tech sevice a few times to answer question for some of the instructions were vage to me but the tech support was good. I recieve the wrong idler arm but they replaced it with no questions. Not all the items were shipped at the same time but I knew what was on backorder when I called. The ends of the tie rods and smart struts have rusted and I have not had it on the road yet so you may want to coat them..It looks like it will be a lot of fun and you will be able to dial in your suspension for your personal likes.
