Default Tires

Ive read hundreds of posts about tires but still undecided.

Id loke to use a wider tire than the 225 70 15 on the car now, assuming i can get the rear spring issue corrected, (in another post) the 225/70 just looks like you had to pull it apart to meet the wheel lip.

So, no problem there going to 245 /60 lets say...or whichever is same height slightly wider.

However. The 225/70 on the front right now is tight, like 1/4 in. From front fender lip and about the same to frame at full turn.

Any opinions on this? Would a slight rear stagger look ok?
I think id like about 1/2 wider tire just so the sidewalls look straight on the 8" rim

assuming you have no sagging springs or other issues the 245/60x15 will fit some people can even put 255/60x15.

You mean 245/60 front and rear?

The 245/60 is 3/4" shorter than the 225/70's you have now. Even the 255/60 is 1/4" shorter, though that may not be noticeable.

The 235/70 may be what you're looking for.

I just looked, there is anout 1/2 to 5/8 clearance to the ebrake bracket.
How close can i get?

If i hold a level against the tire 225/70, it is 1/2" away fromthe rim, meaning the tire is actually 10" wide. Because its stretched onto an 8" rim.
The charts say. A 225/70 is 9" wide.

So how wide is anyones actual 245 or 255/60 on a stock steel wheel?

I have 255 60 15's on all 4. No problems. Well none related to that tire size that is. Car has plenty of problems.

I put 255/60's on the rear--no problem, and 245/60's on the front--looks great, fills the wheel wells, and no issues

After looking at a lot of threads and seeing a few cars in the flesh. I am leaning toward this combination for my 70
