1981 Heater control cable
Reinstalling my console and dash. The cable end at the console is loose and slides on the cable. It needs to be re-pinched (best word I could come up with) so I can re-install, but where. Anyone able to tell me how far from the end of the cable it should be fixed at?

Here are a couple of pictures to show what I mean. you can see the end slides up the cable and is not fixed. The first one is a bit blurry but the ball piece is about a quarter inch from the end of the cable. in the second pic it is a couple of inches from the end.

OUCH...if I had to deal with this at my shop...and not want to have to possible re-visit it again. if I can get a new cable I would. I know I could stake it again...but if it slipped again....the amount of time for me to do it again would not make me happy.
