Im going to sell the 72 when its done, i dont want to waste money on a stereo, just to see it pulled and upgraded, but, i would like to install dash speakers because i figure they would be a hard install later. Any reccommendations? Under $100

I got a pair of Pioneer TS-4644R 4x6 speakers for my 77. They are only 1-5/8" deep and fit in the stock locations without any issues. They sound pretty good and and when I bought them were under $40 dollars.

Originally put in Clarion CLRSRG4621C with not much trouble but one failed. Replaced with Kicker 40CS464 (about $42) and no problems in install. I'm in my 3rd season with them and no problems.
If your present dash speakers work and you plan on selling the car, I would advise against swapping them out. The passenger's side speaker is easy; the driver's side speaker is a PITA to change. And, it is doubtful that the new owner would notice any difference.
If you really want to make an improvement to the sound system, install two additional speakers in the kickpanel area (on each side). Much better sound coverage and depth.

Dash and everything is out right now, thats why i want to put something in there, i figure they can add kick panel speakers easy enough.
Ive done a few different cars over the years, and everyone has their own taste in stereos, ive seen a few of my installs changed out, so it was just a waste of time and money.

Given the dash is already out, therefore installation would be relatively easy, I'd consider a pair of moderately priced speakers, like Kicker or Pioneer. If, in the future they're not needed, it wouldn't be a great loss....
I have two sets of these speakers available that are made to fit the dash of my '77. I think the size is described as 4x6. I have some OK Pioneer full range speakers for $15 plus shipping, or some very nice Boston Acoustics two-way for $40 plus. All of them are in great condition and look new.
Lots of choices at onlinecarstereo.com . If you install only in dash and still have the Delco head, select 8 ohm speakers. If you choose to install in dash AND kickpanels, choose 4 ohm speakers for both areas, then wire speakers for each side in SERIES. That will give you a good match with the Delco unit's output impedence (10 ohms).
If you have a different radio in the car, the speaker impedence must match the needs of the amp.
