Guys here's the skinny: Taking out my L48 in my 79 and installing a 350 4 bolt main, 2 pc rms. Block is already bored .040, will be installing a new 383 stroker kit. Here is what my engine guy quoted me: Bore (if needed) hone and deck block: $260. Clean and CBS: $180. Clearance for stroker: $140. Rotating assy (Eagle steel crank, int. balanced, SIR rods, Speed-pro hyper pistons (flat top, 2 valve relief) rings, bearings; $1000. Assemble short block: $395. Does this sound reasonable? Other things I need recommendations on: Heads (would like the 2.02), Intake, Cam, Carb and Distributor. Looking for min 350 hp, and lots (???/ft lbs) of torque. Don't want something so lopey (cam) that is jacks up my vacuum. Plan on keeping my turbo 350 (only 63K miles) and adding a 2200 or so stall converter. What should I be worried about here (if anything) and does any of this make sense? Not really an engine guy, but trying to learn. Would like to keep the price for heads under $1000. Thanks for your ideas

Edelbrock sells a top end kit that consists of Performer heads, cam, 600 cfm carburetor, and intake manifold. That'll get you the 350 hp you are wanting.

It is already bored .040 over. Very, Very few 2 piece blocks will sonic check OK for another overbore if they are already .040 over. Your L48 block with 63,000 miles is likely a good candidate to build. Your Builder is missing Sonic test, line hone mains, cam bearings, Freeze plug kit, final wash, mag block.
