Default Heater hoses with A/C

Getting ready to replace my heater hoses and followed them to the bottom of the heater box under the firewall. Can I just reach in and unscrew the clamp or do I have to remove anything?

Thanks for the help.

The heater hoses will be FIRMLY stuck to the brass heater core tubes. To get them off CAREFULLY slit the hose with a real sharp knife and then GENTLY push a screwdriver between the hose and brass tube until the hose lets go. As the brass tubes aren't very strong you must use great care to prevent damage to them.

Be very careful and follow toobroke's caution!
Also A/C car need molded hoses as store bought ones can kink or worse yet break the brass tubes.

V4
I have a 75 with AC.
May I suggest you buy the pre molded one as they are much easier to deal with , more $$ but fit much better.

I have the molded hoses. Just wondering if I can reach the clamps (#1 in your picture) from under the car or do I have to remove anything. I can reach in and feel the clamps but they are recessed.

Thanks guys

It's been a while since I changed those hoses and I think there is a easy to remove splash panel in the way.

Agree with Peterbuilt
Remove splash pan from under the car access is better. My car sat on jack stands for 5 months while restoring so it was easy.
