hooker performer manifold
Have a stock 72 with 200 hp and Rochester carb,looking to fit a performer manifold,can someone give me a Model/part number for a manifold that will fit under the hood with this carb,have looked on web site and cant find one that will fit under the hood !! Thanks Alan

You'll have to measure the height of your manifold by removing the carburetor then placing a straight edge on the top.............extending rearward so you can measure the distance to the top of the block. Once you get that dimension find a manifold that is the same height or slightly higher IF your air cleaner has some room under the hood. You can check the air cleaner-to-hood clearance by putting modeling clay on the your air cleaner lid then close the hood. The squashed clay will tell you how much clearance you have right now.
With a higher performance intake manifold you'll see a 10-15 hp gain at around 4000 rpm and above so its not going to turn your engine into a tire smoker. It takes a LOT more money to do that.

Most people fit a performer with a drop base air cleaner with I think a qjet, some even the rpm(obviously with a holley carb) I know that I used an weiand action plus with a holley and a drop base air cleaner.

The base engine will not benefit much, if at all, from an aftermarket intake manifold.
I'd only do it if I were replacing the intake for some other reason (I.E. bad gaskets, cracked, warped, or doing a cam or head swap).

It certainly won't hurt in any way, with additional modifications it will gain a stacking effect. The base model performer shouldn't be hard to fit.
