Transmission Problem Solved
On the suggestion of forum member Killain I bought a new modulator, which turned out not to be the problem :p: , but without his suggestion I wouldn't have come across it. Turns out the metal line leading to the modulator was completely plugged, no amount of air or wire going through would unplug it. Replaced the line, problem solved! I am so thrilled. Still not exactly burning rubber, but I can leave a red light and shift into second before I reach the end of town...before it was shifting at 4500rpm. I've also decided I must only have a three gear transmission. Bummer, unless I haven't gone fast enough at 80 to hit overdrive, doubtful I guess, but even being able to cruise at low speed is a huge improvement over the jumping, roaring monster. Now it's almost a nice dependable ride....unless you count the fact that I got in tonight and only hear clickclickclick, fixed the battery connection and all was well. So, for tonight at least, I am in love again. :)

Glad she's better.
Modulator was only $13, and since we're not actually sure it wasn't causing a problem it got replaced. I'm so thrilled the transmission isn't shot, now I can drive it without fear of messing something up :D I've finally moved up to things like alignment after twelve years.
It doesn't sound very Corvettelike though...very quiet. That's ok, better to hear the next noise.
