Default C3 seat redo

Anyone tackle seat cover and foam installation. My seats are shot on my 68. I know theres videos on this out there but it looks like a pretty difficult job to do right. Dont want a botch job but the extra cost of a pro doing it pushes the $ beyond my means.

Greg
I did my C5 seats, new foam & seat heaters a few yrs back, no issues. just take your time.
I would re lube the seat tracks with WD 40 or light oil, just take your time, put down cardboard for safety.
Good luck
Chuck

It's not that hard, http://www.corvetteamerica.com/video/70_75scInstall/
try that link on the seat cover installation, there's more on you tube. Watch carefully and don't rush it.

Not that hard.
Did my 75 seats 3 years ago with new foam and covers. I used the original wires to pull the tucks down with and wire ties instead of hog rings.
takes a couple hours per seat once everything is disassembled and cleaned.
Don't be afraid of it. Nothing magic going on.

You can do this. Hog ring pliers highly recommended.

Take your time and you can do it, I myself would get new mounting hardware. The cost compared to the new covers when ruined isn't worth it to me. I bought a set of seats a month or so ago( I only wanted the leather one) and one of the seats had been redone in leather like material. The bottom looks fine but the back had one of the retaining rods poke thru, I took it apart to see what happened and when ever it was redone the installer used zip ties some hog rings, and what I believe to be old bread bag ties. They didn't hold up and it ruined the cover. Again I wouldn't chance $500 worth of seat covers for $20 worth of hardware.

Very much a doable project.

For the bottoms you can cut a board to size to fit across the bottom of the seat frame. Have someone stand on the board pushing the frame into the foam while you tie down the cover so it is easy to get tight.

Be sure to change foam.

Can use zip ties instead of hog rings to make it easier.

The zip ties are plastic rubbing on metal. Buy the pliers.

This is the perfect time to decide whether you want heated seats. With them apart it is very easy to install. Buy the kits on eBay for that, or check there and search for best price anywhere online.
