Default What Iv'e found...

..while removing the heads from my '74 454.

It's kinda tight to remove the head bolts,

The upper radiator hose was closer to the alt. than I thought, must have happened when I rev the motor,

It seems a bubba dropped a small screw at some time,

The cylinders looked good,

The OBX pipes had a little tarnish to them,

Interesting about the screw.....any marks on the piston, or did that happen before that set of pistons?

There are the same imprint on the piston, no big deal, I have another short block with domed pistons waiting to go in.
I removed the heads to do a little port clean up on them so the new motor will be complete and ready to go.

I'm surprised that the screw got sucked into the combustion chamber and THEN got out, without damaging either valve. Or, maybe, it got imbedded in the piston.

The po had a valve job done to it back in the 80's, this may have been the reason for the valve job.....
