Power to the IGN terminal comes from the ignition switch so if the switch is bad that terminal will be dead.

"plugged the battery wire"? "the same stud"? The batt pos + lead goes straight to the starter solenoid stud. Only 1 other wire connects there - the red wire to the fender pos + distribution stud on the drivers fender and its about 10 gauge. At the drivers fender distribution stud is were several red wires (cant count them now) are terminated. I know at least the alternator has a wire landed there and another red wire goes to the firewall connector to send power inside the pass compartment and under the dash.

Dont know how u can trace out the wiring w/o at '74 wiring diagram. U can back pin connectors to check for power - u just use the sharp point probe of voltmeter to stab & slid in along side the connector wire u are testing. Always use a good ground like your frame. Dont know how much work done on your car and maybe grounds have been removed and u cant read the potential difference to ground - meter is floating.

Have any specific q's let us know.

Which harness did you replace? Are you sure the bulk head connector is fully seated with the bolt through the firewall?

On my 69 the left side of the fuse panel gets power directly from the red wire coming from the starter--- fuseable link ---going up to the horn relay --- another fuesable link --- into the bulkhead connector on the RED wire and then into the fuse panel its spread across the 3 left hand fuses. 12v all the time

This same red wire also feeds the ignition switch on the column prior to the fuse panel and then the ignition switch feeds the right side of the fuse panel with a brown wire and pink/blk wire. The brown wire feeds the top 3 right hand fuses. The pink/blk feeds the 4 and 5th bottom right hand fuses.

The center tabs/spades in the fuse box are: again my car is a 69

Top tab= battery all the time fed by left hand side of panel

Middle tab = accessory 12v when key on and in accessory position NOT on in start position... fed from right hand side of panel brown wire (ignition switch on column) 3rd fuse down from the top.

Bottom tab = Ignition 12v key on and in start postion.. Fed from right side of panel pink/blk wire (also from ignition switch on column) 4th fuse down on right hand side.

The ignition switch has two connectors on it one connector has the RED wire discussed above and the other connector has the brown and pink/blk described above as well as the purple that feeds the starter solenoid. Are the ignition switch connectors on good? Again not sure what harness you replaced.

Thank you Soo much. . I feel like a complete amateur!!! That was the problem like you said . I didnt have the fuses inserted . I only checked the inbound side of the fuse clips and noticed they were powered . I didnt think that the spades were powered by the fuses next to each male spade connector!
Thanks all for you input.
