Default A/c control access

My A/C clutch won't engage. There is no voltage going to the clutch. I have checked the clutch by activating it with direct voltage and it works ok. Now I need to see if it is in the control unit in the Console. Can anyone tell me if you can access the A/C, Heater, control unit for testing by just taking the gauge cluster out?
Thanks.

You can check for voltage on the light green wire in the engine compartment. You must have pressure in the system for the clutch to engage.

Thanks DUB and Bruiser. I will have the refrigerant pressure tested before I go pulling things apart. Your tip is very much appreciated. I have the Service Manual and Assembly Manual on their way, but don't like to wait to get things working. This Site is outstanding. :-)

I took the advice you guys gave me and had the system tested. It was an R12 system and had to be converted to R134, so I did that. Then it was charged and it now works. However, it isn't as cold as I would like and that may be the condenser, but I am going to leave it for a while and see if it improves on its own.
Cheers and thanks again.
