The floor is not hot. Geeze, I'm from Canada where it's 40 below every day and when I walked two miles to school, it was uphill both ways.
A heated floor will probably be better on a car than a frozen one. The only thing you have to watch out for is taking a cold car into a heated garage with the gas tank empty. You will get condensation as it warms up but if you keep it full, no problem. Old airplane trick. If a heated floor is so bad for your tires, how are you going to walk on it?

I grew up in Michigan.... it wasn`t 40 below every day, only about 5 below.
But I also walked that same 2 miles uphill both ways! I WISH we had heated floors then!
Great tip on keeping the tank full.... thanks!

I had radiant hydronic heat in my garage in virginia. You will have no I'll effects from it. It's the best environment for your car tires and all. I remember being able to lay on the bare concrete and changing the oil on the car. Sometimes when my back pain would flare up I would just work under the car , it's great.

Wife reading over my shoulder... she says, "At least then I`ll know where to look for you when I can`t find you!"

While provision for a slab temperature sensor won't hurt there's really no need in ordinary residential systems.

Here's a couple of progress pictures. Notice the Bosch Greenstar boiler under the stairs. I am not out in this garage but on weekends so I keep it between 57-58 degrees. This feels quite comfortable when walking in from the winters day. By plan is to install a mini-split heat pump to quickly boost the the temp when needed. But I did live with it last winter which was very cold here in New England and I had no problems at all. Maybe I really just want A/C in my garage but either way it will be installed this year. I can tell you that by boiler does not run over 100 degrees and often well under that. I do run constant circulation to maintain the temp. It works better than expected. Please pay attention to the condensate that is a by product from combustion (if using condensing equipment) it will be acidic and needs to be neutralized before being dumped into a septic, sewer or even outside, It kills bacteria and will kill grass and the surrounding area with prolonged use.
Good luck with your project and have fun.
