you do not need a lift for side pipes and i do not own 30" jack stands!
How high did you have to jack your car up and what did you use. My floor jack will lift the car up to about 16" and that's absolutely the highest I would want to go. My jackstands go to about 24" I believe but I have never had them over 16" for any car I have owned.
I just don't want to spend almost $600 for side headers only to find out that I can't install them myself in my garage without jacking the car 30+" off the ground!
Typically Race Ramps service ramps are 8" or 10" high. Reverse Logic offers a 12" high Race Ramps model, RLL-78-2. This 78" long ramp has the same 10.8 degree incline as the popular 56" and 67" ramps.

Once everything is out of the way it only takes a few seconds to get them up through.
I just measured. It's 18". THAT WILL DO IT!!!!

If I go with side headers and side pipes I would need a lift because the car has to be up at least 30" in order to slide the headers in and that's higher than I am comfortable with using jack stands.
Wrong. See my post above.

You can install them on 18" high jack stands. Now go get your headers!!!
The installation instructions for the Hooker side headers state the car needs to be jacked up 30" off of the ground. I would NEVER trust being under a car using jackstands that high up! Some threads I read say 16" is all it needs to go. I just don't want to buy the headers and find out that I can't install them because I don't have a lift. I would love to get one of those kwiklifts but that's out of the question at this point. I have installed long tube headers in other cars and I never remember jacking height to be an issue. I also have a set of ramps but I can't drive the car up on to them. I do have 6 heavy duty jack stands and a nice floor jack.
I installed mine with jackstands and a couple wood blocks. I did not need 30" of clearance.
Jacked car and place jack stands at front frame horns.
Measured hight just in front of doors at frame. It was 16".
The headers went in easy. Took 3 hrs total including mounting the side pipes.
Left side: removed plugs, oil sender is out.
Lifted the header in place. Used a paint thinner 1 gal can and 2x4 uder the tubes before collecter to help support as I was working by my self. LOL! But it worked.
Installed 1 bolt in the fwd tube and aft tube loosely to hold header in place. Then installed center tubes gasket with 2 bolts and back with gaskets in the fwd and aft tubes. Tightened all bolts in a rotation.
Did same on right side.
Easiest header install I have ever done.

Thanks for the info. What brand headers did you get?
