The 406 is back. Broke in the cam Sunday,95 fr^#&% degrees outside, boiled over twice during break in. Finally set the timing and took her for a 75 mile cruise. The power is smooth once under way,but I would not recommend this cam to anybody that drinks hot coffee in the morning. You will be wearing it to work. The idle is nasty, just the way I like it. I decided to do the 1.52 rocker till the cams got some mileage, then switch back to the 1.60's.
I know I should be easy on it for a while, especially after the last disaster, but I couldn't resist the temptation, and nailed it once. Pulled to around 3500 just like the XE_274,then took on a whole new attitude. Lets just say,I may need a bigger fuel line, and maybe the tunnel ram isn't too far off in the future.
Re: On the road again...................finally. (The Money Pit)
Which cam did you get? I had the XE284 in my 383 and it was cool to feel the car shake at idle. :yesnod: Loaded up a bit but never got a chance to really tune it, ate a rod bearing. :cry
Re: On the road again...................finally. (Fevre)
The new cam is the XE-284 installed straight up and running 8 degrees initial timing. Shakes the whole car,and I'm glad I have somewhat quiet mufflers, cause the neighbors would burn my garage if it was any louder in the morning when I leave for work.
