Default 1970 Front bottom spoiler

Sorry for this but after searching the forum I came up empty.

I bought a new replacement (Black plastic). It has six mounting holes. 2 using the bolts in the vertical bumpers, 2 about 6 inches from each end, and 2 between each of the previouly mentioned mounting points.

My question is about the mounts in-between. How exactly do these mount to the body. There are no holes in the body. All I can see is what looks like a rounded rivet. Should there be a clip or something else that a bolt would screw into. The assemble manual shows nothing.

Any help to this mystery would be helpful. Pictures would be the ultimate.

Thanks in advance

The are no clips, just nuts and bolts.

The spoiler mounts using 4 1/4-20 hex head "dog point" bolts with a captive washer, and 4 1/4-20 nuts, that also have a captive washer. I think there should be holes in your front valance panel, that correspond to the holes in the spoiler.

Hi Bf,
There were a total of 6 fasteners passing through the spoiler.
I believe the ones you're missing are a hex headed bolt with a hex nut with a captive flat washer. They had a black/dark finish… perhaps black oxide. They're a different bolt/nut than the ones used at the ends of the spoiler
The bolt was installed from the back side so the nut is seen, not the bolt head.
Regards,
Alan

As always, I agree with Alan's advice.

Worthy of note, you'll see that the installed direction of the two onboard bolts and just is opposite vs what the AIM shows. I believe the reversed direction was due to the increased ease and speed of assembly at the factory when assembling as Alan's photo shows.

Hope this helps.
