Need some advice from those who may have changed seats on their early C3. My wife has two steel rods in her back and am looking for something with more support and comfort. Anyone got suggestions for direct bolt-on replacement seats for my '69? Thanks.
The Fiero seats look best and are a more modern seat.
Whatever you do it would be best to be able to have her have a seat in one to try it out. No sense in going through the effort to find it still is not comfortable.
Could search for a Fiero on local Craigslist to have a seat in. then search for a used pair to do new foam and covers with.
I've heard that the Summit Racing brand seats, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g1159-2 are a good alternative. One of the reviews on the site said that he installed them on his 75 and it fit well and was more comfortable. It also has the extra support. I'm not sure exactly WHAT support you need/had in mind, but this will keep her more stable, too.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Having her try the seats first is a great idea. Right now, I know she loves the seats in our LeSabre. Don't think the bench seat is an option...
I'd be careful of strict racing seats. Some have virtually no padding and no give or movement in the seat by design. High sides to hold the driver up in turns and not let the bottom half slide. Racing seats are made to be used with harnesses pulled so tight the torso cannot move to allow free easy movement of the arms and legs when otherwise the driver would need to use the arms and legs to brace around corners at high Gs. They are essential on a race track but for street driving especially for someone with back pain issues likely poor choice.
