Default 1976 AC compressor

Hi

Can anyone tell me how hot an original AC compressor on a stock 350 auto should get?

Just took the car for a ride, didn't use the AC but the compressor was hot to the touch.

I generally always have mine on as I live in S. FL and it is always quite hot. Even with the a/c off, the compressor pulley (bearing) is spinning creating the heat. I wouldn't worry about it.

It soaks up heat from the engine compartment as well, try touching the alternator after a drive, it will be hot as well.

Happy Motoring,

Frank
