Default Idling Problem

I'm posting this because I am stumped. I have a Holley Carburetor (Part #: 0-80457S) and my car is idling at anywhere from ~1000-1500 RPM. It makes absolutely no difference to the idle if I plug in the electric choke or take it off. The idle adjustment screw seems to have no effect on idle either. Would the fuel mixture screw change anything that would be prudent? I changed the throttle return spring to a shorter length than was on the car so the throttle would close fully, that didn't do much. My new thermostat now opens at 180* instead of 195*, does that make any difference for idling? This problem wouldn't be bad. . .If I had a ZL-1 that actually DID idle at ~2k RPM. My small block thinks she's a full blown rat motor. What suggestions are out there? I know I do have some vacuum issues as the headlights don't go up on their own anymore.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. I am switching heads/cam and when I pulled the intake I was amazed at how loose the bolts where from just being intalled back in Apr. I was leaking some oil out of the seals so i know i was getting some leaking. Another problem I had was the idle circuits got plugged with some gunk fromt the tank I think and the idle circuit screws would do nothing when I tried adjusting them.

Yup, vacuum leak. Make sure first though that your butterflys are indeed closed, especially the rear. If you have worn throttle shafts they could cause your butterflys to hang a little.
