Found a small pile of this stuff where i usually park the vette before i put it in the garage.

Stuff is really hard, anything on the drivers side where this stuff would come from?

Pieces of a v-belt? And those shiny round things appear to be quarters.

I assume you park it and get out of the car to open the garage, or go in the house? If so, my guess would be bits of weather stripping.

Do we win a prize if we're right?

Fan shroud weatherstrip it looks like. I have a box of it that came off my 78, hard as a rock. I don't know WHY I have a box of it, except I promised myself that I wasn't going to throw ANYTHING out until the project was done…..

It could be seam sealer that fell out from the wheel wells.

If it's hard as a rock, it's very possible it's the fire wall grommet.
They get petrified and dissinegrate.
If you have moved anything around under the hood it may have
caused them to fall apart.
There is one the tach cable runs through and another the vac lines
pass through. Both on drivers side firewall.
Did you find them near the front on the ground or nearer to the
fire wall.
Hope this helped.

Isn't that the bushing material from the links in the rear? There was another member on here just recently that was having issues with his newer link bushings falling apart and dropping on the floor. They said it was the Texas heat that caused them to dry up.

I'll have to see if I can find the thread.

Check power steering cylinder shaft to frame attachment bushings.

If you had black polyurethane bushings that is what remains of at least one of them.
Where you found it under the car is where you start looking.

Finally got out to the garage to check out the pile of black stuff in the driveway.

These lasted 2 1/2 years, replaced the rear end cover and did these at the same time. I am guessing they were the Poly ones.

Just ordered the rubber ones from Willcox.
