Hi guys. I have the differential otta our 1980 and need to replace pinion seal but i cant get the nut to budge. Big breaker bar and all that happens is it seems to slip internally but the nut doesnt break loose. Any ideas?

I had to hold the sideshafts in place with 24" long cresent wrenches (pipe wrenches will work also).....then I used the 36" long breaker bar and socket to loosen the pinion nut.
I HAVE had to use a sharp chisel and hammer to cut the pinion nut off of a pinion shaft before (someone used red thread-locktite to hold the nut in place!)
You need a tool that holds the flange on the pinion. The posi inside slips when you hold the side yokes. Look at the Ratech 18002. It's about $30. It also works great to hold when you tighten the pinion nut as well.
After failing to get one loose I took a torch and heated it and that did the trick. I remember thinking man I hope there are no fumes leaking from the tank.
Big ol pipe wrench on the yoke and a 5 foot pipe on the end of my ratchet and it came off like nothin was even holdin it on. Thanks again for the help guys. Cheers!

OOOOOOOOPS! I don't have the fancy Posi-track.....but the big wrench on the yoke is even better!
