I took my 1971 corvette out for a drive yesterday for about 15-20 minutes, started up good drove great. Got it back to the house, shut it off in the drive way. When I went to restart it, it started rough I had to press the gas pedal while turning the key to get it to start.
When it finally got started it would stall out if the RPMs dropped to 500. When I finally got it into the garage there was a small puddle of transmission fluid on the driveway.
A couple other things about it, I have an edelbrock carb with an electric choke and my transmission fluid may be over-filed.
Any ideas or things to check would be appreciated.
I had terrible HOT-starting problems on my 1970 350cu. 600cfm Edelbrock. After the engine cooled down I remove the top of the carb and both bowls were nearly empty.....I will have to investigate more to see whether it was fuel boiling or a weak fuel pump.
A fiber carb spacer can't hurt a thing to start with.
