Every time I depress the clutch pedal while driving my '69 vert at night, the floor-mounted high beam switch gets pushed, turning on the brights.
I did a search, and I see others complaining of this problem, but I couldn't find any suggestions for a solution. Mine does it every single time I press the clutch pedal, and I can't imagine that was the case when it left the factory.
Oh yeah, it happens to everyone. Yep, I have the same issue. Nothing like ripping through the gear and flashing everyone in the process like a jerk.
Once I see and hear some good solutions, I'll apply it myself.
One, cutting or modifying the carpet may help along with a stiff spring. Might even try to change our or trim the switch pedal to something really small and thin.
adjust the clutch push rod so the clutch disengages up higher, as long as you have a little free play on top. if you don't hafta go all the way to the floor...
Maybe wear a smaller shoe on the left foot? I must say, I have never pushed the dimmer switch when clutching on any C2 or C3 I have owned. I didn't even know it was possible. Maybe the carpet is over the button and tight enough to press it. Check and adjust the carpet and see what happens.
For me, it is definitely a case of the carpet being pushed down by the clutch pedal and in-turn pushing the high-beams switch. I am going to mess around with the carpeting and see if I can stretch it differently to avoid the issue, but I was just hoping that maybe someone had dealt with this same problem and found a good solution. It's definitely driving me crazy!
