Go with a pair of Dart 180 platinum heads...in either cast iron or aluminum....depending on your budget........use a 64cc chamber.....with a .015 gasket...this will get you about 9.2-9.3 to 1.
The Dart SHP is a good value too....but a few corners were cut to make them $$$$$ effective.
There is simply no better head for the money......
Put more cam than the L-82 in it......not much more....but more.

Round this out with headers....a nice intake (like the Edelbrock EPS for hood clearance) a MSD distributor with a nice curve.....and brand X carb......(lot of choices there)
I can tell you from experience that a 650-670 carb works well on the street with a tall gear. Low gear and convertor....use a 750.

Have fun,
Jebby

About 230 degrees at @.050 in a 350 is where they start to peter off....

The XE268 Comp has been around forever and is a great cam....I put a 274 in a 77' Automatic with no issues though.

Vaccum being one concern and stall speed (if auto) and rear gears being the other. When I put the xe262h in my l48 with edelbrock heads it ran real well, but was a lot funner when I upped the stall speed to 2400 rpm, would have been funner with 3.55 gears.

"Funner"? Is that really a word? I think its "more fun" but we all know what you're talking about. Hey Bluedawg, did you ever install a 4-terminal stop light switch for your TH700R4?

No I installed the painless kit. And sorry about the hill Billy Grammer, but I think I made my point.
