hi guys. This is may be a dumb question but does the orientation of the camber adjustment washers matter? In our 1980 after adjusting the camber the wider side of the washers on both sides is oriented downward however when i have seen pics and in ours before disassembly the washers are always positioned with the wider side up. Does it matter? Either way twisting the bolt woRks to tilt the camber right?

I assume you're talking about the rear tire camber? And the "washer" you are referring to is the eccentric? Yes, turning the center bolt does rotate the eccentric and the bolt should be toward the top. The problem with the stock camber adjusters is they barely achieve 0 degrees camber and that's why a lot of folks make the switch to adjustable strut rods.

Thanks. So do i need to rotate untill the eccentric washers are at the top? My camber is good now with them at bottom. Thanks again for the help!
Don't the stock washers have markings on them to determine the amount of camber you have put in? They should line up with a notch on the plate that they ride inside of. But they will work either way, just won't line up with the marks.

They adjust easier with the bolt UP and the eccentric DOWN so the strut rod doesn't run into the bracket below. There are marks stamped into the eccentrics for reference points but they're not real accurate. You need to check the actual camber with a level or angle gauge placed against the wheel. You want zero camber (straight up and down).
It makes no difference whether the eccentric is up or down. It sure doesn't make it adjust any easier. But if want it to look correct, the eccentrics go up.
There is no "bracket below" for the strut rod to run into. It moves on a horizontal plane. I have never had a corvette not achieve 0 camber with the stock eccentrics without there being a problem somewhere else.
