Default 73 Lower Radiator Hose

Does anyone have experience or know what the difference in the lower hose setup for a 73 - 454 w/AC vs a 72 or 74.

The 73 uses a partial hose to the water pump, then a metal pipe formed to go over the frame member and a small hose to the angled lower inlet top the radiator.

A 72 or 74 seems to use a molded hose from the water pump to the lower fitting on the radiator and no metal pipe in between. This is on models with the 454 and AC.
Thx

FYI, my '71 454 with A/C still has the original formed metal pipe on the lower hose assembly as described in your post in bold letters.
