I pulled the radiator on my 77 L48 to fix a small leak, and decided to do belts and hoses while it's apart. I got a Gates 20827 for the upper hose. The radiator upper fitting seems to be about 1.25", but the id of the hose looks to be about 1.5". Has anyone else run into this? Has the rad been swapped out, or do I have the wrong hose? The old hose had double clamps on it, so maybe the original owner ran into this is well.
Also, the lower hose doesn't have a spring, and neither does the one coming off the car. Is the spring available separately anywhere?
I've been doing some research, and it looks like the Vette went to a 1.25" radiator
inlet in 1980. I tried a 1980 hose, but the bends don't work out...still looking!

How about using a piece of 1.25" hose on the outlet and then slipping the 1.5" over the top of that. Might want to check the OD of the 1.25" hose to see if it would work.

Someone makes the correct hose, I just cant remember where I got it. I had this issue on my 78. Ill try and see if I still have it in the garage and post up. You might try emailing or calling one of the corvette vendors. Pretty annoying that you cant get a hose at a local parts house...that's life.
I get my hoses and belts from Quanta. I probably pay a few bucks more but I get service replacements that are made using GM original specs...and they have the original markings. I have never had an issue with size or functionality.
