Default Rear Alignment Question...

I just finished setting my rear alignment using the Duntov paper. I'm shooting for 1/8" toe in.
Now when I did the inital part of the procedure, setting the track, I was using 96mm as my baseline measurement. After setting 1/16" toe in on each side and ensuring all shims are snugly set, I tightened the bolts up.
Went for a spin around the block, and put it back in the shop to remeasure my settings. Pulled the string tight and set my 96mm measurment to the front spindle. With that set I have exactly 1/8" toe in measured at the string.
My question is....Do I have to take that measurement and divide it in half to get my toe in setting for that wheel. ( my thinking is the front of the tire goes in 1/16" and the back goes out 1/16" so the string shows 1/8" total)

Did that make sense??

How did the tracking "feel"........did the left turns feel the same as the right turns.......did it wander on straight roads.....did you need to constantly "adjust the steering wheel" on straight roads?

A really fast way to check the Toe is to measure across the FRONT of the tires from center tread groove on one tire to center tread groove on the other tire.....write down the measurement.

Then.......on the BACK SIDE of the tires, take the measurement using the same tread grooves......write down the measurement.

The front measurement should be approx. 1/8" shorter than the rear measurement.

With measuring to the front of the rim and then the rear of the rim to the string there should be 1/16 difference because 1/8 is total toe for both wheels. Also if your measuring from the center line of the hubs you need to factor in the .8 of a difference in track between the front and rear of the car. If I remember correctly I found that setting the string 13/32 out farther on the front hub verses the rear would set the strings where they need to be.
