Default Ive always been backwards

Have a late 79 corvette so it has the 80 to 82 front bumper. I like the look of the earlier years bumper. I know more people switch to the bumper with flares but I was wondering if anyone made a replacement so it would look like a earlier version? I can see they are physically different so it wont be an easy swap unless the aftermarket makes something.

Thanks in advance
Bill

the factory would never have installed a 80 bumper on a 79 due to all the difficulties associated with meeting federal crash standards. Can you post a picture of your car?

If you have a late 79 it is possible that you have a 85mph speedometer rather than the 140. Or you have 2 rear storage boxes rather than 3 but not the 80 front end.

In 1979 you could order a front and rear spoiler (rpo D80). Could you be referring to the front spoiler?

Yes, pics would be good

I agree. Your car probably has an aftermarket 80-82 style bumper cover. A stock 79 bumper cover should work for you.

Thanks for the replies. Sorry for my ignorance. My first vette and learning as I go. Might be a spoiler package as it does have the rear spoiler too and yes it is a l48 with the 85 MPH speedo but has the 3 compartment rear storage. But the rear spoiler is not a bolt on piece its built into the rear bumper. Only able to get one pic as it is currently sleeping waiting on repairs. But it has the seam that goes to the wheel well and the divided side light. The VIN says its a 79 and the production number is 50,000 plus so its definitely a late year model. My thinking is they might of switched over late year to the next body style like they sometimes do. At least that's what I am hoping!!!!!!! The other ideas aren't as appealing.
