Total timing. WHat and how?
Im one of those guys that sets his base timing and goes
For my 502, specs call for 8 at 800 rpm, which is where I set my timing.
Total timing is stated 36 at 5000rpm: What is total timing? How do I ensure Im there? How is it done?

John, lars wrote a paper (I hope the above link is to the lars timing paper!!) that explains it so clearly and it is so easy that EVEN I COULD DO IT!!!! :lol:
The trick is to remove the springs from your distributor first so the full timing comes in almost immediately. With the springs in you would have to be standing over your engine with a timing light at 5000 rpm which you really don't want to be doing! :) MJ
