I know the flex fit ones are good to go and fiberglass cracks easily, but how are the vintage originals, GM original replacement urathane, aftermarket urathane?
Which one is known to ripple over time?
The urethane bumpers will ripple and crack over time. I got the Tru-Flex fiberglass bumpers on mine and love them. And they will hold their shape forever.
it's amazing how fast the original urethane bumpers deterioated on my '74 -- i saw the car about a year before i purchased it and they were intact, when i took delivery of the car they had almost completly fallen off the car, actually the front bumper was practically non-existant...on that note, go with a fiberglass or flex-fiberglass bumper...i'm going with straight up fiberglass on the rear and a flex fit type for the front....have fun taking the old ones off! it's a PITA!
Custom fitted a bra to cover mine so I could put of that chore for a few more years. The standard bras look like :U and I like the mini bra avail for c-4 but none avail for the c-3 SO I cut the one I got so it was the same size as the front bumber then hot glued and rivited velcro to the bumber. Resewed the bra to have velcro to match the velcro I put on the front bumber. That did not hold so I got some heavy duty contact cement and cemented the velcro to the bumber. That is holding much better. Looks pretty good if i may so myself. Some company should wise up and sell it as a cover up kit for $150. I can remove it to clean and back on it goes. My paint is pretty good and should be OK for at least 2 more years so why do the bumber now? Need to snap some pics and post.
Fevre- what you did with your front bumper sounds like a good idea BUT that is not a bra you are describing- those are known as "pasties" I believe, but I am sure some expert on "the subject" will chime in. :p:
