Hi,
My back up lights are not working.
I checked and found a pair of wires that are supposed to be connected to the backup light switch of the manual transmission.
Connecting these wires actually turns the backup lights on, but I cannot understand where the switch should be connected.
The backup switch mounts to the side of the transmission linkage, next to the reverse lever of the linkage. A small rod runs from the switch to a hole in the reverse linkage arm. You need both switch and rod. Any of the vette suppliers sells both, and will sometimes show a diagram with the part. The switch comes with wire harness to plug into the existing connector. Once you get the part, it's obvious how it goes in! Good Luck.
Landy, I just replaced my switch last week. I found the pink and green wires in the engine compartment and found the switch on the transmission. The problem was the wires off the switch were gone. Replaced switch and hooked up the wires and turned the key and sure enough the backup lights came on. Good luck on yours, hope it all comes out well.

The best non-technical method used to adjust the back up lamp switch is to place the shifter in reverse, attach the switch rod to both the switch and the reverse rod and then move the switch until the back up lamps come on.
Installation of the rod is easy if it is installed in the correct hole. There is only one hole in the shifter lever, but there are multiple holes in the switch and the rod installs in the long lever with the single hole. You’ll notice there is a divot above the hole in the picture below.
