Which diet plan has worked best for your vette :jester Actually I was wondering who has originally weighed their car and then tried to remove weight and what they got down to.
3084 on the scales. it was years ago. Since then I've added 9.90 legal roll cage and went back to a steel rear spring. My minuses are aluminum heads, water pump, radiator, and a 12.6 pound sparco seat with five point belts.
My car is gutted of all other stuff. On this forum some how his car is 2800 ish. I couldn't get any lighter. Just click on my sig and see what i've done
My original door sticker said something like 3485 or something like that and i had 500 pounds of stuff in boxes for a 79. the factory lies so much. The 79 L-82 was such a pig car
Years ago i was into Auto-X and you have to think about racing against the trailer queens. I was in BSP all road racing tires. Then the 86 Vette was the first year of AntiLock ABS back then. So once your in with the big boys I went for it.

I have never weighted my Vettes but I guess that my 68 is approx. 3200 or less....
BTW: My Vette has no spare tire and no accessories!!!
1966 big/block 427 Conv, 3080 LBS., No driver 1/3 tank of gas.................. side exhaust,,,,, think its lighter than under car eXhaust system..........Alum heads, mini starter, mono rear fibergalss spring. no spare or jack & removed entire spare tire carrier assembly... on the pluss side & put on P/S since last wieghed.................however alum water oump goes on this winter........ :smash: :seeya :flag
I guess I should mention what I did for weight savings: Aluminum intake, no spare, no jack, no spare carrier, no A/C, No smog equipment, Aluminum Rims, and Headers. I guess my 73's weight at about 3575lbs with a full tank of gas.
Your right StrayDog :yesnod: , I need to get that done someday, becouse I'm real curious as to what it actually weighs. You mid year guys are lucky, your cars start off a whole lot lighter then most of the C3's, 3000lbs with a big block is excellent.
I just got my '72 running after 2 years in my garage. I added another 100hp to the stock ZZ4 and I lost 125 pounds for my health. How much horsepower did it take to push that extra 125 pounds around? Should feel like I gained 150hp
