Default Brake Align Correction Plates

Anyone know the specific product code for the Brake Aligncorrection plates used on the 68 vette? Their product catalog doesn't go back that far.

I have tried in vien to find a shop around here that can do the rotor true on the car and only two guys were even familiar with it and hadn't done it in years. Only one guy though he might have a machine to do it but it would be too big to fit in the wheel well since its for over 1 ton trucks and he wasn't sure if he remembered how to do it. Doesn't sound very promising of getting it done right around here.

I have one whee that is around .012 out and the other is .006. Haven't started on the front yet to check them. I've got new rotors that seem to be very true because no matter what clock position they are in, the runout is the same.

I'm getting stuck at this point.

I think they are sold by Raybestos now, BA80303 (.003) & BA80306 (.006), I always wanted to try some but they are kinda pricey at $17 per shim. (search "rotor shims")

"Brake Align" is a name brand. They refer to them as correction plates but yes, shims.

"803" is one of their product numbers and that sounds right. How did you find that?

Its too bad you cant find a shop to do the truing. I found it very laborious to fit shims, torque the studs, and re-measure. And do it again.

I made shims from thin brass sheet from a hobby store....Just circles around the stud. But maybe the shim plates are easier!

They are made from .025" stock with a taper ground on them. The ones to correct .003" runout have .0015" taper and the ones to correct .006" runout have .003" taper. In my case all the runout was on the hubs (the Wilwood rotors ran very true) so I just indicated the hubs and matched the thick part of the shim with the low spot on the rotor.

Thanks guys. That's what I was needing. I didn't know NAPA has them. I think we have a local NAPA store that might have them in stock.

For what it's worth... I cut up a pop can and was able to get my rotor at .002 or less run out.
