so i finally get my 79 running, love it, and the wipers dont work. i replaced the motor, and got a new switch, the old one was melted. anyone ever had this problem?
I found that I had a wire off the motor... I am sure you will find it to be something simple. Is the hot wire hot? going into the switch? after the switch is on is it hot on the other side? does the hot go to the motor? it is there some place...

Once I replaced the switch nothing was getting hot. It worked for a day. I live in SoCal so I haven't really used them since it's not raining but the other day I tried turning them on and nothing. I even had my dad take it out and use his test light and it was working fine when we removed it(the wiper motor) then.
Check the cover on your wiper motor. Does it have a single pink wire a few inches long (with connector at the end) coming out of the passenger side? This is NOT the rectangular "hole" in the driver side of the cover that makes room for the main three-wire (purple, yellow, grey) connector.
If you don't have that pink wire extending from the cover then the interval wipers will NOT work. Unfortunately that part is no longer available but with some searching you can find used replacements.
--------------------------------
The interval wiper control module is in the center console ahead of the shifter. It's a "black box" with attached relay in a tinned metal box. It has two electrical connectors--one three wire and one five wire.
See this and this. The detail in both is sufficient to allow you to jump the wires required to bypass the interval controller. You are, of course, jumping wires on the harness side
