Default t-top differences

hello Corvette gurus,

I'm working on a 72 coupe.
I purhcased a nice set of "71" t-tops that look great,
but don't seem to want to fit my 72..

am I missing something?
do they adjust? is there a major change from these years?

any input would be appreciated.
thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,
As far as I know there's no difference between a roof panel delivered on a 71 car or on a 72 car that would affect the way it fits.
Yes, there are 4 places of adjustment and there's often a bit of work required though to get a 'good fit' and a 'good seal'. All 4 points of attachment generally require attention and manipulation.
What sort of problems are you having?
Any chance of a picture or two? That might helps folks give you some guidance.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan, thanks for responding,
I'll get some pics tonight and post them.
I'll loosen up the bolts tonight as well to see if I can get
the new top to drop in..
example: on drivers side top:
looks like its binding at the front latch...if i get it in place,
the left rear sits high.... I don't remember having this issue changing tops in the past.

Hi Gary,
All 4 corner's can be adjusted.
The front outer corner "guide" can be moved and shimmed under it's base which is secured by 2 12 point bolts.
The rear corner can be moved in and out and up and down by moving the 2 screws that hold the wedge plate to the halo and by turning the wedge in and out.
The 2 'tongues' at the center bar can be moved when their bolts are loosened and also by the use of shims as MW describes.
Loosen the 'locks' at each of the outer corners until you've achieved the fit you want and then adjust the locks to get the best seal.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Front outer "header guide".

Front and rear "tongues" with shims in place.

Moving the 'wedge' moves the corner of the top panel up/down and in/out, spinning the 'wedge' moves the top panel forward/backward.
