they only play with fuel and spark curve at wot, even for my "primitive fuel injection"
81 was the first year that all Corvettes came with a computer. It really was the dark ages in terms of automotive computer controls. The 81 CCC system doesn't control a lot of functions.
I've never touched the chip in my 81, so I don't have any experience with them, but I can't imagine that it would effect enough of the functions of the system, to offer a noticeable improvement in performance?
Biggest improvement to performance I ever did was completely eliminate the ECU system in my '81. Put a holley DP on it and be done with it. Or give one of the new TBI systems a shot if you want the drivability of a newer car. Granted, if you're in Cali or something that might be more difficult...
