there is no direct fit I have seen, with some mods people have fitted an aftermarket sifter under the stock console but not a ratcheting shifter. Do a search for after market shifters.
I am in the process of putting a B&M Megashifter in my '81. Just finished the console but haven't put it on yet. I used the model for the late 70's to early '80s camaro console. The shifter is in and works great. Too bad I just blew a rear end out speed shifting it.
I put the Megashifter in years ago, and like it a lot. TH400 with a full manual reverse valve body, so it drives like a stick, but without a clutch. The 7000 rpm shifts are a blast.
That looks quite similar to the 82 console. From the pics it doesn't appear that you had to do mu fabricating (if any?). I guess Im gonna have to take mine apart and have a look at the guts of the shifter installation.

Im digging this! Gonna have to look at the installation of my shifter. A little fabrication isn't a big deal, but Id like to avoid it if possible. Did you have to do any work to the 700 R4?
Thanks

Fred, It took a heck of a lot of fabricating, measuring, grinding, cutting, etc. Unless you are dead set on installing a ratchet shifter (I was), I wouldn't try it. It wasn't that easy for me.

You don't have the cigarette lighter and ash tray?
I don't smoke, so the ash tray was no big deal to me. I put the shifter where it felt right for me. Then made an aluminum cover to tidy things up. I was going for a more "factory look".
If you look close you can see the gear position indicator cut right into the plate.
The 700r4 trans was the reason I put this shifter in,..But after blowing two of them, I went to a th400. The B&M shifter was originally set up for the OD trans. I got a reverse vb indicator plate when I swapped transmissions.

Thanks Guys!
I really like the look of the B&M shifter so Im gonna have to do this project over the winter....plenty of tools and time My 700 R4 was rebuilt and shifts great so I think this will be a bonus....Im really tired of the stock shifter setup.
