72' water pump pulley depth.
The pulley is too deep by almost a half of an inch.
No way this will work.
I am trying to figure out if I have the wrong water pump pulley....
Does anyone have one they could measure for me......very much appreciated.
Frustrated.....the next step is to go to the parts store and start opening boxes.
Weiand lists the pump as 5.80 from the mount pad the the fan hub....I get 5.625. This .175 is still not enough.
Maybe the powder coat guy mis matched mine with someone elses?
Ugh.

I don't know what dimension you are looking for, so I laid a 6" scale across the top of the water pump on my 1972 L48 engine and took this photo. The base of the scale is resting against the front of the block, right where the intake manifold mounts. Does this help you? If not, perhaps the photo will allow you to give more direction as to what you need.
I see 77 readers on this thread so far, but no posts. If this post doesn't answer your question, at least it moves you to the top where more readers will see it today.
Your pulley is the same as mine. That is good to know.
Next step is to call Holley. I went and purchased a Brand New replacment from O'Reilley. I was pleased to find it was a quality piece for $30.....but the following pics will show my dilemma.

As you can see the shaft is shorter and the fan hub is on too far.
Why is this so? They sell this for a 71-82 Vette......I am sure I am not the first with this problem.
I want a high flow pump....but this is now pump #3. Edelbrock make one too.....more money and will it work?
Just a heads up fellas......

I saw those on Edelbrocks site...
If those numbers are right...theirs should work.
But Weiand spells out close numbers too.....and they say 5.80....when the pump I have here is actually 5.625.
Oh well....I put the stocker pump on it for now....the Weiand went back to Summit.
