Default Engine running on

Hi all, Having a problem with my 68 427. When I turn off the engine it continues to run on. The carb is the correct QJ rebuilt, and the ignition switch is original 68, it has an after market cam intake lift 3029 and exhaust lift 3029 duration 272, Crane part # 99839. Also it idles at about 1200 RPM and a little rough. The car runs strong at RPM over idle. It has been like this since I restored the car (not seen the road since 1974) Engine was rebuilt ~ 15 years ago and only ran a short time.
Thanks in advance
Chuck

Reduce the idle speed to around 750 rpm and it'll stop "running on".

Run-on is most often caused by excessive idle speed. 1,200 is quite high, but I get that you maybe need to run it a little higher than normal because of your cam. Is the car a manual? If it is, you can use first or reverse to drag the engine down a little before switching it off. I do this with my 11:1 L-46. It's not going to hurt it - but run-on certainly will.
You're unlikely to be able to do anything to it to eliminate the run-on if you leave the idle speed at 1,200.
