Default timing tab w/ led light

Anybody ever use something like this.http://www.ebay.com/itm/281794408120...STRK:MEBIDX:IT I came across it on a search for something else and it caught my eye. Actually, it caught my 65 yr old eyes and thought it might be a help when setting timing. Only drawback is you can olny use it on the car it's installed on.

While it sounds trick, I question the need. I can set the timing myself with a conventional timing light in just a few minutes, then it is basically locked in for a long time. It takes literally 2 minutes to check it if needed. I try to keep things as simple as possible and avoid anything that is not needed.

I don't know, it's cheap enough. What have you got to lose?

I kind of figured the same thing. I needed to get a timing tab anyway, was going to spend $10-15, so maybe I'lll give it a try. The budget on this project was blown a long time ago! Thanks.

I've never seen one of those but it looks trick...I wonder though, how hard is it to connect the plug wire clamp and get that little 1/8" phone plug hooked up everytime? I assume you wouldn't leave it connected all the time. would be a better setup if it was permanent with a readout you could mount somewhere to monitor actual timing advance while driving...

ProForm Instructions
1. Remove your old timing tab, and install your new tab with light.
2. When ready to use, unplug black moisture-seal plug from light module, and plug in the pick-up wire in its place.
3. Attach the other end of the inductive pick-up unit wire by opening the slide on the attaching end, and then placing it over the #1 spark plug wire.
4. Important: make sure all other spark plug wires are positioned as far away from the pick-up unit as possible -- otherwise you may pick up signals from another cylinder.
5. Start engine, and set timing.
6. When finished, shut engine off, unplug pick-up from light module, and replace it with the moistureseal black plug.
7. Disconnect the pick-up from the #1 wire, and store in toolbox or other safe area.

Swiftrider. I like it. Thanks for the pic with the light on. I guess it's time for a new toy.

Cool toy, works if you have the small balancer. Lots of tech for $30!
