What type of seat brackets did you use to mount the Kirkey seats? Thanks!
I had the seats before the cage and I had the generic Alum Kirkey mounting brackets. I made up my own steel seat brackets that bolted to stock location. Then i bolted the seats to the kirkey brackets and those to the steel brackets. It didnt look too great and was actually pretty heavy.
when I got the cage done, the fabricator made light weight brackets and just welded the seats right to the brackets he made. then the seat is bolted to the roll cage on backside and also to the stock location on the floor.
Yes I have SFI 45.1 Rated Roll cage padding coming for it. It is a slim design and much better looking then the old bulking stuff. I'm going to do the inside of the top bars, everywhere where my helmet can hit.
With helmet on how much room do you have between t-top liner if you have it in and would stock seats work as well? Thanks, thinking of making my 69 a full race car. My other option is my 72 Nova
I like what I see , but I am having trouble visualizing how they tied the bottom of the rear hoop into the frame. I have to put a full cage into a 70 that I am building into a race car.

I took t-top liner out before the cage.. never bothered to put it back in so i have plenty of room with helmet on.
You can do stock seats with a cage built around then.. i have seen some pictures of c3s with stock seats and cages.. i did the kirkeys because they weight less, 5pt harnesses fit thru them, and they bolt to roll cage for more support.
If you google steve hoch 68 corvette.. there is an article on his car in hot rod mag.. he has a 10pt cage with stock seats..
Very nice job! Do you have any pics on how they tied it into the frame?
The back bars off main hoop just weld right to back frame when bumpstops are located but on top side of frame.. if you jack car up, remove rear wheels, you can see the bars welded to frame in body to frame gap. The main hoops are welded to top of frame where rear curves start.. he built gussets around the bottom of both sides for more support.. the front bars are welded on inside face of frame and he made gussets for those as well. I stopped are shop during the build but didnt get any photos at that time.. then when i picked car up he had sheet metal patches made up and installed already..
The car is looking good but I'd be curious why they put bends in the door bars. That really weakens the bars if the worst happens and you need to rely on those bars to hold the main hoop in place.

He started the tops of side bars so they were in correct spot to be legal..then he curved them down to clear the window cranks and door handle. I thought it looked weird too, but it fits door panel good.
