Replacement power steering control valves are 6 to 8 times the cost of a rebuild kit. I bought a kit for about $20 and rebuilt my own valve after watching the Willcox Corvette video on the subject.
It was not difficult at all.

I've had a couple "rebuilt" units that didn't last. I currently have my own rebuilt that is only about a yr old, but it doesn't leak so far. Watch the video above and do it yourself, or buy a new one. More and more, rebuilt parts are crap.

I have been buying mine from Vette brakes since practically they started in business, and have never had a problem.

I have found rebuilding my 78 power steering control valve one of the most satisfying C3 projects and don't know why. Perhaps, it was the balancing once re-assembly was completed and how long the fix has worked. I used the Corvette shop manual as guide, but the video really makes it a breeze and anyone knew to these classics I would recommend to take a run at it yourself.

Its very easy to rebuild and the entire kit only costs $25.00. Just follow the instructions from CSSB or Wilcox. There are youtube videos online too.

I replace the seals with the valve still mounted. Only takes a few minutes and the seal kit is about $15 from my auto parts store......................

I was told that the only power steering control value to install is a new one from Lone Star. Last I checked (about 6 weeks ago) corvette central, mid America, zip and Ecklers sell them but they weren't in stock. Lone Star told me they should have them in November. But be careful as last time I spoke to Ecklers they had new ones that weren't made by Lone Star. Before ordering, ask if it's made by Lone Star.
