Default My 357 build

I am using an ATK short block as a base for my 357 build to drop in my 78 with new Dougs Side exhaust Here are the specs so far:
80-85 4 bolt main block bored .040 over
Hyper flat top 4 v relief pistons
Stock reground and balanced nodular iron crankshaft
Powdered metal rods
Howards Retro roller cam and lifters .525/.525 110 LSA
Lunati double roller timing chain w/ torrington bearing
Cloyes 9-221 quick button aluminum timing chain cover
Melling HV55 oil pump with bolted on pickup
Looking at 64cc 185 2.02/1.60 heads for approx. 9.9/1 compression. Looking at Promaxx, Blueprint, ATK/ profiler heads
Dual plane intake
Probably an Edelbrock carb not sure of 600 or 750 cfm

Spend a tad more money and get a forged crank , Also why not use a one piece rear main block ? Then you have a better block made for a roller cam.

Check with Weingartner Racing. He can help you out. His ported Dart 180s would be a nice fit.

I got an ATK 385 crate motor a couple years ago and they used Profiler 195cc heads. Dyno'd at 486hp and achieved my goal for the street: 500lbs of torque from 3600 to 5200rpm. Not bad! I did a lot of research on aluminum head flow numbers and these heads certainly keep pace with the much more expensive heads. (They know who they are.) Profiler has earned my endorsement.

I would run larger than 600cfm for a carb and it wouldn't be an edelbrock unless it was the AVS.Buy what you are comfortable with just be ready to tune on it some.
