Default Installing new seatbelts...question

Need some word's of wisdom guys. My car is a 73 coupe, owned for 18 yrs. I've got the lap belts ready to bolt up after installing new reinforcement plates. The car came with shoulder belts but it looks like they were removed long before I got the car. The plastic guide tubes inside the headrest look to be totally collapsed height wise, width is still ok. I'm wondering how much drag that will put on the retractor and if it will work properly. Belts are the premium set from Seatbelt Solutions. I've read older posts that stated more retractor spring tension was needed on some installs. Do you actually need those tubes in there with the existing guide bar in the trim plate and metal plate on back of seat. What experience have you guys had on this?
Thanks
Jim

I just installed new economy seat belts on my '73 cp with shoulder strap. The guides inside the back seat are metal. I re-upholstered them and had everything apart. Don't know if this helps you but just putting it out there.

I was missing the shoulder belts in my 71. The guide in my seat is also metal. I used seat belt solutions and everything worked great. That plastic you see might be something left from the old seat belt, buckle cover maybe?

Here is a photo of my 73 seat back. You can see on the right of the
photo that the shoulder belt goes through the metal piece on the
back and then through the bezel on the front of the seat.
I restored my seats and installed new belts.

Sorry about the delay in response, been on the road all day. Donnie, my seats are like yours. ..small slotted rear bracket & front trim plate with slot but inside between front and rear slots is a plastic sleeve. As mentioned above it looks a lot like the buckle cover from the previous belts, I can see one ear possibly a second one. So there is not suppose to be anything in line with the front and rear slots inside the headrest? I CANNOT get pictures to post from this phone.

There shouldn't be anything in there other than maybe the flap of material they slit in the cover to open the front. It sounds like what you think, someone took the belt out and the vinyl buckle cover got stuck inside.

There is a thin rod to guide the belt over and nothing else in there

Without back bracket in place

Thanks Mooser, man does that make my day !! I was wondering how in the world you're suppose to get belts through there. I thought it was just another landmine you run into on C3s.
