Oil Pan Torque Setting..
What should the oil pan bolt torque be set at?? I heard that if the thin metal stuff like the timing chain cover, oil pan and valve covers are over tightened, then the gasket won't seal. What the correct torque for the oil pan??
Thanks,
Aaron

somewhere in the 10-15 ft-lbs should be good, just make sure they are all torqued down the same amount.

There are two torque settings. The 1/4-20 bolts are 80 lb in and the 5/16-18 bolts are 165 lb in.

That is in/lbs not ft/lbs. 120 in/lbs equal 10 ft/lbs

Yes, inches not feet. Here are the torque specs for the SB.
Source of reference.

165 in/lbs divided by 12 = 13.75 ft/lbs.
80 ft/lbs divided by 12 = 6.66 ft/lbs -
My ft/lb torque wrench only goes down to 10 ft/lb, so I would probly use a in/lb torque wrench for these bolts
